Dear Eliot Families,
Welcome to the 2018/2019 school year! The Eliot school mission statement reads, “Eliot fosters a love of learning in a community where everyone matters.” The staff at Eliot school are committed to our mission statement and will continue to work with staff and families to create a safe, joyous and inclusive environment for everyone here at Eliot school.
Eliot school is a vibrant and diverse learning community. In the fall we anticipate approximately 388 students. We have families from all over the world and students that are native speakers of German, Spanish and Chinese to name a few. In the fall we will welcome 76 new students in grades K-5. I know you will join me in welcoming them to our community.
Our teachers and staff are committed to helping meet student’s individual needs. Teachers employ a variety of techniques based on best practices to ensure students understand the curriculum. Small group instruction, individual conferencing and assessment are just a few examples of how teachers work with students. As you well know, having a strong teacher/ parent partnership is an important factor to student success. Please be sure to reach out to our staff if you have any questions or concerns.
This handbook contains policies and procedures for the Eliot School and helpful information about the Needham Public schools in general. There is a wealth of information about how to access the school, PTC and Needham Public schools. Please review it with your family. I encourage all families to reach out to the school regarding questions, comments or suggestions on how we can further our goal of making Eliot a place for students to prosper and grow.
I can be reached at 781-455-0452 or Karen_Bourn@Needham.k12.ma.us if you have any questions or would like to say hello.
